Final Ezine from 2009 Liffey Descent Organisers
Now that the dust has finally settled on the 50th Liffey Descent, the Canoe Union would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the over 1,000 paddlers who took part in this year’s Descent to thank the numerous individuals and organisations that help make the event possible.
To give you some idea of the scale of the numbers involved the following is a short list of volunteers, clubs, and organisations who helped in the organisation of the 2009 Descent:

Logistical Support
The K Club Staff & Management for allowing access to the grounds of The K Club and in particular the Members’ Car Park.
The Electricity Supply Board (ESB) who each year are as regular as clockwork with the flood release.
Gardai from Naas, Celbridge, Lucan, Leixlip and Kilmainham.
The staff of the War Memorial Park and Trinity Boathouse.
South Dublin County Council.
Lucan Red Cross.

Final Thank You
The final thank you is to the 1,020 paddlers who took part in the Descent. The enthusiasm,
co operation and good humour demonstrated by everyone regardless of what level individuals were paddling at was a great testament and credit to canoeing as both an elite sport and recreational activity.
