There are two ways of joining the Irish Canoe Union
Individual Membership
Costs €20 and is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. To join, just download the application form below and return with appropriate fee to the ICU Office. Alternatively, join over the phone by calling 01-6251105.
Membership through an ICU Registered Club
An ICU Registered Club can register its members as with the Canoe Union at any time while the club is registered with the Canoe Union. The Annual Club Registration Fee is €100. The fee per senior club member to is €20. The fee per junior club member to is €5.
Please note: Only the secretary of an ICU Registered Club can register club members with the Canoe Union. A club member's registration with the Canoe Union expires when the club's registration expires, regardless of when that person paid their club membership fee or when the person was registered by their club with the Canoe Union.

ICU Membership Cards
All individuals regardless of how they are registered with the Irish Canoe Union receive an ICU Membership Card posted to the address provided to the Canoe Union Office at the time of registration.
An ICU Registered Club is not required to register its entire membership. Only those members who either wish or are required to be issued with an ICU Membership Card need be registered by a club secretary.
However, only those club members who have been registered by an ICU Registered Club and have been issued with an ICU Membership Card are covered by ICU insurance, are eligible to participate in ICU Events, and can avail of ICU services.
A member of a club who holds a current ICU Membership Card (through membership of another ICU Registered Club; through Individual Membership; or through registration with the Training & Development Unit) should ensure that a club secretary is informed that they already hold a current ICU Membership Card and do not require any further registration with the Canoe Union.
ICU Training & Development Unit
The ICU Training & Development Unit maintains a database of all ICU Registrered Instructors, Coaches, and Trainees. The annual fee to maintain registration with the Training & Development Unit is €20.
All ICU Registered Instructors, Coaches, and Trainees are automatically registered as Individual Members of the Canoe Union. It is consequently not necessary for an ICU Registered Instructor, Coach, or Trainee to maintain separate registration with the Canoe Union.
Transfer of Registration to the Training & Development Unit
An individual who is a current Individual Member or a Member though an ICU Registered Club can convert their current registration to the Training & Development Unit at no extra cost.
