The Youth Adventure Kayaking Scheme aims to promote the highest level of performance and safety in youth white water kayaking. This 6 day adventure will incorporate advanced white water skills training with a strong emphasis on safety and team paddling.
Course includes -
- Full board and lodging in an Alpine Challet
- 6 day Adventure White Water Programme

Youth Adventure Kayaking
Suitable for solid Level 3 whitewater paddlers looking for a challenging and fun white water adventure on Alpine Grade III and IV rivers in a safe environment with expert tuition.

Transport
The Irish Canoe Union will provide a shuttle service to and from Lyon St Exupery Airport to meet the incoming and outbound aerlingus flights on the 20th and 27th of June.
We strongly recommend that all course participants take advantage of the shuttle service. Any other transport arrangments must be logged with the ICU prior to departure.
Accomodation & Food
The Irish Canoe Union will book and provide accomodation in a challet in Bourg St Maurice. Food will be provided by the ICU however course participants will be split into teams to assist in the buying and preparation of food on a daily basis. Tuition will be provided on how to cook simple, yet nutritious meals to meet the energy requirements of an active kayaking trip.
Equipment Guidelines
The Irish Canoe Union will provide a modern white water creek boat for the duration of the trip. The ICU will transport a paddle and a small gear bag (helmet, bouyancy and spraydeck) on the ICU bus for participants who wish to avail of the service. The bus will be leaving Ireland on the 1st of June and will return on the 13th July. All other equiment must be transported by the course participants. Below is a list of minimum equiment required.

Duty of Care
The Irish Canoe Union Coaching Staff will be in loco parentis only while the students are resident on the course. Students are responsible for their own transport to and from Lyon Airport or Bourg St Maurice at the start and finish of the course, other than the ICU shuttle. Parents / guardians must sign a consent form to this effect.
This trip has a limited number of places so early booking is advisable
