A busy weekend for Junior Canoe Polo

A busy weekend for Junior Canoe Polo.

Canoe Polo Junior Development days bring together children from 8 to 18 years of age,   grouped into beginner, intermediate and advanced players.   Its all part of a determined effort grow their discipline at Junior level through fun and learning, and it seems to be working.

This weekend saw 50 Juniors in the newly developed Mullingar Harbour Canoe Polo center.   Three lead coaches took beginners (Michelle Power), intermediate (Reno Insoda) and advanced (Conor Lane) and while it looked like a lot was being learned, there were smiles everywhere, and somehow the sun kept shining.  Our own CEO Moira Aston had a great time watching, learning about Polo and meeting the team.

For some of the participants as young as 8 it was their first time in a Kayak, with 12 of them already signed up for a beginners course in Mullingar Harbour in May.    A great buzz at this beautiful central location – there were children from Galway, Kilkenny, Wildwater Kayak Club, Tullamore, Kilcock and of course Mullingar.

If any club wants to get involved in this great initiative, give the team a shout on develop@canoepolo.ie or just message their page @CanoePoloIreland.
