Dear Clubs/Members,

As previously emailed out, Canoeing Ireland would like to connect you with your local RNLI station by doing a fun fundraiser beside or close to your local RNLI base on the 11th May 2019.

The stations we would be connecting with this year are:

  • Howth
  • Wicklow Town
  • Kinsale
  • Baltimore
  • Valentia
  • Sligo
  • Lough Swilly

With this in mind, would you be interested in hosting a come and try session outside the RNLI bases to raise much needed funds for your local RNLI station?

If that is not suitable for your club you can host an event in your club to raise funds and present it to the RNLI station on the 11th May 2019 or you buy a box of Pin badges for €120 euro directly from the RNLI office.

Could you come back to me before the 22nd March 2019 with whether this is something you or your club could support?

The premise of the day would be to start  with a come and try session from 12pm till 3pm. They would be 30min sessions in the local area in either general purpose boats or sea kayaks. The sessions would be ran by qualified instructors and helpers would be needed to prep the visitors with gear and equipment. Non instructors would be needed to help collect during the come and try sessions.

The RNLI took 8072 people from the water in 2017 and they have not  released the numbers for 2018 yet. That works out as roughly 22 people a day helped by the RNLI.

If you have never had to use this service, count yourself lucky. We all hope never to need their service.

Please click here and let me know if this is something you would be interested in and what you are willing to help deliver.
