Four kayakers have been selected to represent Team Ireland at the World Special Olympic Summer Games in Abu Dhabi in March 2019. This will be one of the biggest sporting events in the world in 2019 which attracts over 500, 000 spectators. The four athletes are as follows: Michelle O’Keane – Connaught Region (Galway Special Olympic Kayaking Club) of Galway Kayak Club; Deirdre O’Callaghan – Eastern Region (Free Spirit Special Olympic Kayaking Club); Oisin Ferry – Leinster Region (Ballinamere Special Olympics Kayaking Club) of Tullamore Canoe Club and last but not least Fergal Gregory – Ulster Region (Newry City Special Olympic Club). Michael Fahy is the Head Coach for Team Ireland. Michael is assisted by Angelina Foley. Both Michael (Castlebar Canoe Club) and Angelina have a wealth of experience as both of them coached the Irish Team for the last World Games in Los Angeles U.S.A. in 2015 when the team brought home four silver medals and two bronze medals
