Waterways Ireland will be working with volunteers along both stretches of the Royal and Grand Canals that will be organising the annual Dublin Canals Action Day that is taking place on the 21st of April.

Canoeing Ireland are encouraging our members to get involved with helping out on the day. The big difficulty this clean up faces is actually picking out litter from the canals themselves as it can be quite inaccessible from the banks – we hope canoes and kayaks will come to the rescue!

The poster below highlights where volunteers are meeting on the morning.

All tools, pickers, bags etc. will be supplied and a full briefing will be given to all volunteers.

This year we are looking to focus on recycling plastic that is collected on the day and an artist is working with the clean up to produce something out of the rubbish that is being collected.

Waterways Ireland and Canoeing Ireland would really appreciate any help given to this great initiative.
