Junior Paddlefest:

This year’s event will be held over the weekend of 15 / 16 / 17th September at the Hidden Valley Campsite in Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow.

Clinics take place on the 16th and 17th September; with registration from 8pm on the 15th September, and from 7.30am on the 16th September.

To Help with clarifying all of the relevant application  forms, the following colour codes should be used;

Please note that all participants must be members of Canoeing Ireland.

During the course of the weekend, some photographs and Video will be taken. This may be used for training purposes, promotion, or to populate the Facebook and Website of Paddlefest,

Canoeing Ireland or its Technical Committies.

In registering for Paddlefest, or any Clinics at Paddlefest, permission is given to use this Media.

 

2017 line up

The 2017 line up is as follows: –

 

  • Paddlefest
  • Signets / Junior intro for siblings of Paddlefest / skills clinic participants over 8 and under 12 years with no previous paddling experience
  • Adult intro for parents and older siblings of Paddlefest / skills clinic participants over 12 years with no previous paddling experience
  • Signets / Junior improver for siblings of Paddlefest / skills clinic participants over 8 and under 12 years who have paddled previously but do not hold a level 2 kayak skills or equivalent
  • Adult improver for parents and older siblings of Paddlefest / skills clinics participants over 12 years who have paddled previously but do not hold a level 2 kayak skills or equivalent
  • O15s clinics including Level 3 Kayak Skills; Level 1 / 2 Open Boat skills – max 12 places available; and Surf/Sea kayaking – max 12 places available. (New for 2017, Surf Element)
  • O16s clinics including Level 4 / 5 Kayak Skills; and Women on the Water (girls only) – max 12 places available
  • Super 12’s for Paddlers over the age of 12 on the 1st August 2017. (New for 2017)

SPECIALISED CLINICS

The specialist clinics (i.e. level 3 / 4 / 5 skills training, level 1 / 2 open boat skills, sea kayaking and women on the water) are designed as options for the over 15s / 16s only. There are pre-requisites to attend these clinics as outlined below: –

Level 3 / 4 / 5 kayak skills – Next level anyone??? ·         Participants must be over 15 years;

·         have attended a previous Paddlefest; and

·         hold the level 2 / 3 / 4 kayak skills award or equivalent to participate in the level 3 / 4 / 5 skills training respectively

Level 1 / 2 open boat skills – Paddle your own canoe ·         Participants must be over 15 years;

·         have attended a previous Paddlefest; and

·          Hold the level 2 skills award or equivalent to participate in the level 1 / 2 open boat skills training.

·         A maximum of 12 people can be catered for on this clinic

 

Clinic Pre requisites
Sea kayaking/Surf – Try something different ·         Participants must be over 15 years;

·         have attended a previous Paddlefest; and

·          Hold the level 2 skills award or equivalent to participate in the level 1 / 2 Sea Kayak Training.

·         A maximum of 12 people can be catered for on this clinic

Women on the water – Paddle with your peers ·         Participants must be female;

·         over 15 years;

·         have attended a previous Paddlefest; and

·         Hold the level 2 kayak skills award or equivalent.

·         A maximum of 12 girls can be catered for on this clinic

  • Participants must be 12 or over on 01/08/17
  • Participants must be at the level 3 standard
  • Whilst attending a previous paddlefest is not a pre requisite it is however preferable (see notes on super 12’s)
  • Must be signed off by Instructor!

 

Please note participants of the aforementioned specialist clinics must supply their own equipment

(see separate equipment list as laid down by Canoeing Ireland).

Booking form

When completing the booking forms (there are three separate forms – Paddlefest event, Intro and Improver booking form; and Paddlefest programmes for the o15s and a separate form for the Super 12s), please ensure that you tick the most appropriate course / clinic for the participant you wish to register as changes may not be possible. Should you have queries as to the course / clinic to choose, please contact us by email at paddlefest@hotmail.com.

Please note, booking forms (i.e. Paddlefest event and Intro / Improver; and Paddlefest programmes for the o15s, Super 12s) should be returned with payment to Paddlefest, 33 Dodsboro Road, Lucan, Co. Dublin by close of business on Friday 25th August. Incomplete forms will not be processed and will be returned to the participant.

Extra hoodies Some clubs / groups require additional hoodies for their non paddling leaders and support staff. Please complete the extra hoodie order form available on the website and return with payment (as outlined below) to Paddlefest, 33 Dodsboro Road, Lucan, Co. Dublin by close of business on Friday, 1st September 2017.
