Level 3 Kayak Skills Courses 2020
Canoeing Ireland will be runing a series of Level 3 Kayak Skillls Training courses and assessments during the Autumn and Winter months in 2020 from its Training Centre on the Strawberry Beds near Lucan . See Here for location.
Training courses will be run over two days and aim to cover the syllabus of the the Level 3 Kayak Skills Award and prepare participants for assessment for the award.
The course does NOT include an assessment . Participants will be given feedback by Instructor about appllying for assessment.
- Be over 18 years
- At minimum Level 2 Kayak skills standard
- Be able to swim

The Centre can provide kayak and paddle and all necessary safety equipment such as a Buoyancy Aid or PFD, helmet, spray deck. It can also supply wetsuit and cagoule however participants are recommended to supply their own if possible .
Participants will need their own footwear suitable for kayaking ( bootees or old runners) , swimwear and some base layers such as thermal top / football jersey/light fleece . Cotton tops are not advised .
Aims of the Level 3 Kayak Skills Award
Candidates should be able
- Kayak safely and competently on rivers up to and including Grade 2 difficulty as a member of a group of peers
- Be capable of negotiating obstacles encountered on water of Grade 2 difficulty.
Assist in rescues.
