As part of the ongoing development of the 2024-2028 Canoeing Ireland Paddler Pathway we are looking to form an athlete consultation group to be part of the strategy formation process 🤝 We want to ensure the voice of the athlete is clear in the pathway strategy, to keep people at the heart of what we do 🩵 It is our intention to have representatives from each of the disciplines, with the group being gender balanced if possible. Canoeing Ireland are requesting paddlers avoid Slu

Canoeing Ireland are requesting paddlers avoid Sluice weir on the Liffey until a fallen tree which is blocking the river can be removed ⚠️ Anyone paddling the river or doing Liffey Descent practise should run the weir by the river right bank or portage it entirely. Several slalom overheard lines are now in the water due to the tree and are creating a hazard for all water users. We are currently working to have the tree removed

Over the last 18 months Canoeing Ireland has been working with Student sport Ireland and 3rd level institutions to develop a set of Outdoor sports guidelines for Sports officers and clubs 🌊🚣‍♂️ The document's purpose is to improve safety and clearly outline what is considered good practise.
