With new government guidelines having been issued on Tuesday 18th August we would like to offer some guidance to our members and clubs on what this means for paddlesports. With COVID-19 cases being back on the rise we are all responsible for doing our part in keeping ourselves and others safe. We can only ask that our community continues their exemplary efforts in demonstrating a safe and responsible return to sporting activity. The Canoeing Ireland Return to Paddling document has been updated with new guidelines relating to the recent government update.

The key updates to the Return to Paddling guidelines are –

  • Groups are limited to 15 for outdoor activity when social distancing is maintained
  • Groups are limited to 6 may for indoor training facilities, coming from a maximum of 3 households
  • Travel is not restricted, aside from adherence to specific government restrictions for certain counties

For further guidelines and advice please consult the Return to Paddling guidelines –

This remains a fluid situation and we will be continuing to review these guidelines as the situation progresses and more advice is issued by the government. Stay tuned.

If you have any further questions around a specific activity or require further guidance for a safe return to any paddlesport activity please contact Canoeing Ireland.

We would like to congratulate and thank our members on their compliance with the restrictions so far, and hope they continue to set an excellent example for our sport
