Canoeing Ireland are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates for a consultant role within the performance programme. Full role description available here –

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Work with the PD in developing specific areas of the performance programme
  • Engaging with key stakeholders for planning, developing and implementing a functional and sustainable pathway structure, in line with Canoeing Ireland’s performance programme.
  • Building and mentoring a cohort of new coaches
  • Overseeing a national training and competition programme that identifies, nurtures and supports aspiring canoe athletes on the performance pathway
  • Assist the PD in all pathway and performance reviews and planning models
  • Promoting individual and team morale through effective people management practices aligned to Canoeing Ireland’s values
  • Be available for international travel and associated team duties if required

Knowledge, Experience and Personal Profile

  • Relevant experience as a performance coach and/or management in a performance environment
  • Hard working, self-motivated and organised
  • Knowledge of the sport of Canoeing and the related disciplines
  • Successful leadership experience within high performance Sport
  • International team management experience
  • Developed management skills including strategic planning, report writing and problem solving
  • Commitment to matters of compliance, particularly with regard to safety and welfare of young persons
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the high performance environment
  • Understanding of the culture that underpins success in sport
  • Strong interpersonal skills including leadership abilities and good communication skills
  • Vision, imagination, drive and good problem-solving abilities

Other Conditions

  • The role requires a full, clean driving licence
  • Garda Vetting will be required
  • A probationary period will apply
