The Community Paddlers programme has flourished this summer at Kilkenny Aqua Canoe Club, marking its successful first year. Over 50 participants have joined, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who have warmly introduced them to the world of paddle sports. This initiative fosters solidarity through sport, uniting asylum seekers, refugees, and the broader community living in Ireland. The program will continue in Kilkenny, with support from Kilkenny Integration Team providing ongoing opportunities for those in direct provision to engage in new activities and connect with locals.
