Leah Hough from Trim Canoe Club has been awarded Kayak Session U21 Female Kayaker of the year, for her incredible achievements across the 2024 freestyle kayaking season.

These awards encompassing the entirety of paddle sport, recognising the incredible performances and talents displayed by young paddlers all over the world. The Awards cover the following nine categories:

  • Male & Female Paddler of the Year
  • Male & Female U21 Paddler of the Year
  • Event of the Year
  • Non-Profit of the Year
  • Mission of the Year
  • Honorary Award: Legend Paddler Award(Note: This category is not subject to public voting.)
Leah’s extraordinary 2024 season saw her come away with 3 international medals, including becoming the Junior Women’s World Cup Champion at the ICF Freestyle World Cups in Plattling Germany this year. This competition saw paddlers from across to world compete on the Isarwelle wave in 2 competitions. The overall winner was based on the combined results of both competitions.

In August Leah went on to become the Junior Women’s European Freestyle Champion in Graz, and in doing so became the first junior women to score over 1000 points in a European/ ICF event.
Aside from her freestyle achievements she also won her category at Galwayfest for the 2nd year in a row.

Adding Kayak Session U21 female paddler of the year to her list of accolades proves that Leah Hough is truly on top of her game, with much more to come as she ages into the senior categories for the upcoming Freestyle Kayaking World Championships next year.
