Canoeing Ireland has launched its new Athlete Zone alongside a new Athlete Welfare Policy, reinforcing our commitment to creating a safe, supportive and athlete-centred performance environment.

The Athlete Zone brings together a wide range of resources designed to support athletes at every stage of their journey, both on and off the water. From athlete services, welfare and safeguarding information, mental health resources and anti-doping education, to performance supports, athlete representation and development opportunities, the new hub provides athletes with the knowledge and support they need to thrive.

The launch is complemented by the introduction of Canoeing Ireland’s Athlete Welfare Policy, which places athlete wellbeing at the heart of our performance programme. Built on the principle that performance excellence and athlete welfare go hand in hand, the policy outlines clear standards, responsibilities and support structures to ensure every athlete is treated with dignity, respect and fairness throughout their career. It also reinforces the importance of psychologically safe environments where athletes feel empowered to raise concerns, contribute to their development and perform at their best.
Together, the Athlete Zone and Athlete Welfare Policy reflect Canoeing Ireland’s ongoing commitment to supporting athletes through every stage of their development, while upholding our core values of Inclusion, Integrity, Respect and Passion.
