Canoeing Ireland will be hosting the EPP Benchmarking event in Dublin on the 15 & 16 October 2016.
There was lots of enthusiasm, bright ideas and inspiration at the 2016 Euro Paddle Pass (EPP) Core Group meeting last week at the Italian Canoe Sprint facility in Castel Gandolfo. Two days of really productive meetings with lots of positive developments including development of junior award scheme resources (watch this space), discussion and promotion the Blueways Ireland concept, some review of the EPP Level 3 framework, work on creating an SUP EPP framework based on the new Canoeing Ireland SUP awards developed by the TDU, development of a Canoe Touring award by the Swedish and German Canoe Federations.
At the meeting it was unanimously agreed that Canoeing Ireland will host the next bench marking workshop in Dublin on the 15 & 16 October 2016. The workshop will be focusing on Level 3 Skills Assessments in Flatwater K1, Sea Kayaking, Open Canoeing, River Kayaking and will include an assimilation course for European Instructors and Coaches to become Canoeing Ireland Flatwater SUP Instructors. This is a great opportunity to promote Ireland as an amazing paddling destination across Europe while show casing the strength of the Canoeing Ireland award scheme and our incredible network of instructors and coaches.
The workshops will be open to Canoeing Ireland Instructors and Coaches to attend and share ideas with Instructors & Coaches from the other 9 European EPP partners who will travel over for the weekend from France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Slovenia. There will also be lots of places available to participants who would like to be Level 3 skills students and assessees over the weekend where they will have the opportunity to learn from some of Europe’s most experienced instructors and coaches. Registration for instructors/coaches and participants will open over the next few months.
Thanks to the Italian Canoe Federation for their incredible hospitality and use of facilities last week in Castel Gandolfo, we will have to work hard to match it.
