Canoeing Ireland’s Teen Connect programme, in partnership with Her Moves, will deliver a series of girls-only whitewater development days this winter, providing opportunities for young female paddlers to develop their skills, build confidence and connect with other paddlers of a similar age.
Led by Cleo Pitcher Farrell and a team of female instructors, the sessions will combine whitewater paddling and skills development with a social activity afterwards. Each day will run from 10:30 to 15:30.
With support from Sport Ireland’s HerMoves funding, each session is subsidised, with participants paying €20 per day, plus the booking fee.
Upcoming dates and locations
- Sunday 15 November – Dublin
- Sunday 29 November – Clashganny
- Saturday 12 December – Clonmel
Further dates for sessions after Christmas will be announced on 12 December.
Participants must hold a Canoeing Ireland Level 2 River Skills certificate and be current members of Canoeing Ireland.
Participants must bring a river kayak with a suitable spray deck and airbags, paddle, buoyancy aid, helmet, winter wetsuit or drysuit, and a cag if not wearing a drysuit.
Paddlers who do not have access to a boat through their club are encouraged to get in touch by email to discuss potential equipment options. Contact emer@canoe.ie with any questions.
