The Sport Ireland ASPIRE Programme
ASPIRE is a graduate employment programme, funded by Sport Ireland. This programme has been approved by Government with support from the Dormant Accounts Fund. The aim of this programme is to enable a number of recently qualified sport and physical activity graduates to gain relevant experience working in the sports sector and to develop relevant skills and knowledge. The successful graduate will receive an 11-month contract and will work directly for Canoeing Ireland. Canoeing Ireland are responsible for the recruitment and selection of the graduate. Sport Ireland will provide a series of skills-based training, career coaching and personal development opportunities, which graduates are encouraged to take advantage of.

Job Summary
The role of the ASPIRE Graduate will be to support and coordinate programmes and projects in liaison with the organisation’s business departments/units, stakeholders and volunteers. The successful individual will perform a wide range of administrative duties to support the organisation. This placement offers the successful graduate a significant opportunity to gain relevant experience and to potentially advance their career in the sports sector. Previous experience in a similar role is not required.

Key Job Duties & Responsibilities
• The role will primarily be to work in the area of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) development.
• Support the team/organisation in achieving project/programme objectives. [Bridge the Gap & Paddle Able]
• To coordinate and have direct responsibility for a project or a specific set of tasks related to a project/programme.
• Communicating with our members & wider network of organisations
• Designing & reviewing programmes (with assistance) [Bridge the Gap and its related programmes, Paddle Able and its related programmes]
• Attending events, training, programmes site visits and conferences [Watersports Inclusion Games, Her Paddle Journey, Liffey Descent, European Week of Sport, CI Awards, and others]
• Project opportunities in leadership, mentoring, coaching, research, innovation, management and personal skills training (CPD) within areas of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.
• Social media management
• Presentations & delivery of programmes (on and offline)

Essential Requirements
The graduate must:
• Have graduated with a Master’s or Primary Degree in the area of Sport or Physical Activity, including Outdoor Education in 2021 or 2022.
• Be currently unemployed i.e. not in current employment.
• Be available for the 11-month contract duration.
• Be eligible to work in Ireland on a full-time basis.
• Full Clean Drivers Licence
• Garda Vetting and Safeguarding will apply

Qualifications

Level 2+ Instructorship or equivalent in any paddlesports discipline

Canoeing Ireland member & Garda vetted through CI

Full clean driving licence

Minimum L7 Degree in area of sport and physical activity.

First Aid L2+

Safeguarding Certificate

Social Media & Communications training.

Training Certificate(s) in disability training

KnowledgeEssentialDesired

Understand the Sport Ireland framework (LSP, NGB, Sport Ireland Departments)

Understand the Canoeing Ireland framework (board, committees, departments)

Knowledge of the sport and it’s various disciplines.
