There are two exciting opportunities coming up to join the Teen Connect team for 2024. Coming into its fourth year Teen Connect continues to flourish, with a highlight of 2023 being the programmes inclusion in the Sport Ireland ‘HER Moves‘ initiative, aimed at inspiring more teenage girls in Ireland to be active. So far the programme has increased the female teenage membership of Canoeing Ireland by 100%, with another big year incoming. The two applications which are currently open are to join –

Teen Connect Project Team

Be a voice to make change for the future of Paddlesports for teens by working with a group of likeminded young women who have a passion for the sport! Learn valuable leadership skills, project management skills and of course some new paddling skills all in a fun and supportive environment. For female paddlers aged 14 to 17. Teen Connect Volunteer Team

Support and influence the future of Paddlesports for teenage girls in Ireland through volunteering! This is a unique fun opportunity to combine your skillset with your passion of Paddlesports while learning new skills and creating more positive experiences in the sport for current and future generations. For female paddlers aged 18 to 25. Deadline Friday 24th November –

Joining the Teen Connect team is a fantastic way to develop a wide range of new skills and meet an incredible group of likeminded teenage girls. Over the course of the year you team members will have a chance to –

  • Take part in a leadership training course
  • Be part of the visibility campaign for young women in paddlesports
  • Be a voice for teenage girls in sport
  • Make a new network of friends
  • Help create events specifically for teenage girls

Feedback from last years team has been incredible positive, with all involved coming out the far side with great stories, experiences and having made a difference to the sport for other teenage girls –

‘What I loved most was organising events and days to get loads of other teenage girls trying paddling! It was so fun to introduce them to our sport and make new friends. My confidence grew so much from helping with these days.‘
