Cranafest is back!! Two days of paddling action on the 19th and 20th of October. The Inspirational Adrian Harkin created CranaFest many years ago, which has become a massively popular event on the paddle sports calendar. Sadly, earlier this year, Adrian lost his battle with Motor Neurone Disease. With Adrian’s and his family’s blessing, we are bringing CranaFest back for 2024 to honour Adrian’s memory.

The event will be packed with great paddling, including the always electric atmosphere on ‘The Claw’ section of the Crana River. After the success of Kayak Cross at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Saturday of Cranafest will be a full day of head-to-head Kayak Cross racing. The racing will take place on ‘Advanced’, ‘Intermediate’ and ‘Improver’ sections of the river with a place for everyone to get involved. Sunday will feature a team race, where teams of three will race on the same ‘Advanced’, ‘Intermediate’ and ‘Improver’ sections of the river.

Along with the great paddling there will be a Saturday night party in the Lake of Shadows Hotel, along with a charity raffle with great prizes in aid of MND Research. We will also be presenting ‘The Adrian Harkin Award’ to recognise the outstanding contribution of the creator of CranaFest.

Let’s come together and celebrate Adrian’s life and legacy.
