Canoeing Ireland invites its affiliated clubs, registered providers, committees and members to apply for a grant to run targeted women’s advanced level projects. Please read the following information before applying:

The ‘Bridge the Gap: Advance’ Projects aim is to:
1. Advance past and present female members to higher skill levels, equivalent of Level 4+ skills proficiency relative to your chosen discipline. This year CI encourages applicants to target these projects towards those who may have stopped paddling due to barriers to progression, and those who are looking to continue paddling but struggling to find adequate opportunities.
2. Support a range of projects across multiple disciplines and reaching rural and urban communities which will provide high quality training opportunities to women aiming to advance their proficiency. This may include programmes, events, training camps or any other creative ideas.

Project Specifications:

  • Minimum of 12 hours contact time and can take place over a series of days, evenings or weekends.
  • Operate within ratio guidelines and remit of the instructor/coach qualifications.
  • Certification is optional if running skills training.- Projects must be scheduled to run before May 2026- Each project targets a minimum of 12 participants.
  • Collaborative projects across members, clubs, committees, providers, members are encouraged.
  • All participants must be Canoeing Ireland members.

Terms & Conditions of Application

  • Grants are available for up to €1000 supported by Bridge the Gap – Women in Sport funding.
  • Applications must be associated to a Canoeing Ireland affiliated provider, club, committee or member.
