The 2026 Junior Liffey Descent saw young paddlers take on the 14-kilometre route along the Liffey from Salmon Leap Canoe Club to the Canoe Centre in Palmerstown, with rainy conditions and great water levels setting the stage for another exciting day on the river. The release on the River Liffey added plenty of fun and challenge throughout the course, with the weirs always providing  the biggest thrills of the day, especially the famous Sluice Weir which tested paddlers’ skills and brought plenty of excitement for competitors and spectators alike.

The race finish once again provided a fantastic opportunity for the paddling community to come together, reconnect with friends, and celebrate a brilliant day of junior paddling.

There were strong performances across all categories throughout the event, and congratulations go to everyone who took part and embraced the challenge of the course. A huge thank you also goes to all of the rescue crews who ensured the event ran safely, and to the volunteers whose hard work and support helped make the 2026 Junior Liffey Descent such a success.
