The Canoe Slalom season got off to a fantastic start for our Irish athletes with Jake Cochrane taking home a bronze medal in the first race of the 2021 Pyrenees Cup, in La Seu d’Urgell in Spain. The Pyrenees Cup is a series of races held in southern France and northern Spain, attracting a very high level of competition with international racers from all over Europe using the series to get their first start line of the year.

Racing for Ireland were Jake Cochrane in the C1 Men and Hannah Craig in the K1 Women. Jake got his medal winning weekend off to a very strong start, finishing in 3rd place in Saturdays qualification race. Taking this momentum on to Sunday’s bronze medal winning run in a time of 93.70 seconds with no penalties. Hannah Craig completed a very successful weekend for Ireland’s paddlers, finishing 9th in the Final of the K1 Women.

Both will race again in the next round of the 2021 Pyrenees Cup, held in Pau, France.
