Sport Ireland is in the process of developing a Diversity and Inclusion policy to broaden the scope of their diversity and inclusion remit, building on the success achieved in the area to date. This policy will help to inform Canoeing Ireland’s policy also.

As part of this work, Sport Ireland are seeking to engage in a widespread comprehensive consultation process to identify barriers, challenges and enablers in relation to participation in sport. A key element of this will include insights gained through 2 surveys – one for sporting organisations and one for individuals.

To that end, Sport Ireland would appreciate the input and support of our key stakeholders by encouraging as much engagement in the surveys as possible.

The survey links and additional information can be accessed here:

Sport Ireland will be promoting this work through our social media and other channels over the coming days and weeks, and we would encourage all stakeholders, members & clubs to do the same to ensure a comprehensive response is received.

Sport Ireland is also involved as a partner in a project funded by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission, Human Rights in and through Sport which is being led by the Federation of Irish Sport. Relevant insights gained from the work and engagement as part of the development of our Diversity and Inclusion policy will also support this project.

If you have any queries, the project lead will be happy to discuss. Helen McHugh, Sport Ireland Diversity, Inclusion & Safeguarding Manager can be reached via email at hmchugh@sportireland.ie
