Canoeing Ireland is proud to launch its Athletes Commission, a representative group that places athlete voice at the centre of the organisation.
Made up of athletes from across multiple disciplines, the Commission acts as a direct link between the athlete body and Canoeing Ireland—ensuring feedback, ideas and concerns are heard, while also helping to communicate key updates back to athletes.
Commission Members –
- Cleo Pitcher-Farrell. Chairperson
- Paul Donnellan. Vice-Chairperson
- Noel Hendrick
- Thomas Dunphy
- Kate O’Halloran
The first meeting of the Commission was held at the Sport Ireland Institute earlier in March. At the meeting, members outlined a clear focus on transparency, equal access across disciplines, and creating open, approachable channels for athletes to raise feedback, both formally and informally. During the meeting the athlete representatives elected Cleo Pitcher-Farrell as Chairperson, with Paul Donnellan as Vice-Chairperson.
The Commission will play an important role in upcoming athlete welfare initiatives, while also leading projects that strengthen connection, communication, and support across the sport.
