Sport Ireland will be facilitating a mandatory safeguarding audit of clubs in collaboration with sport NGBs. This audit will be used to develop support systems where required for clubs so that best practice is assured across all sports. We would like to invite the person in charge of safeguarding for your club and your club chairperson to attend an information evening to take you through the audit process and answer any questions you might have. We will be opening the survey to our clubs on 1st June and the portal will remain open until 14th July. The dates for the two information evenings are Monday 17th May and Thursday 20th May. We are also very happy to announce the appointment of two National Children’s Officers, Heather Wilson (Sligo Kayak Club) and John Daly (Virginia Kayak Club). Both Heather and John bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role.
Our Safeguarding Working Group have been reviewing our policy documents in recent months and will be leading the information sessions for the audit. The group are:
