We are super excited about celebrating the opening of the new Trim Canoe Course on the Boyne tomorrow!
Water levels are low country wide but the course in Trim is still working well with a surfing wave at the top of the course, some well defined eddys, a small rapid and a wicked little S move below the central island at the bottom of the course. Looking forward to seeing lots of you there tomorrow for a great day of fun and banter.
Below is brief outline of the day for the Opening of Trim Canoe Course;
11:00 Arrival on site, sign in and collect raffle tickets, yes we’re having a Raffle :-)
11:30 Official Cutting of the tape and opening of the Trim Canoe Course.
11:30-2:30 Free Paddling/Play time to explore the new course and it’s features.
2:30 Raffle and close of celebrations.
There will be hot food and beverages available on site for the duration of the celebrations.
There will be an event Marquee, Trailer and music on site.
I-Canoe and Great Outdoors will be on site for the day to support the event.
The Trim Canoe Course is a very safe and fun Grade I-II paddling venue suitable for paddlers of all levels from novice to experienced. Paddling groups on Saturday must arrive well equipped and take responsibility for their own safety and rescue for the day, as they would on any regular Saturday Paddling Trip. There will be safety & rescue back up provided on site should it be required.
Weather Forecast is looking good with any rain clearing early in the morning leading to a bright sunny day. Temperatures will be in the mid to low teens, a little on the chilly side, so wrap up well.
We are really looking forward to seeing plenty of you there. If you are running a club trip on Saturday come up to Trim for a play around on the course and then if you like there is a nice, little known, paddle from Trim down to Bective Abbey with a few small rapids and weirs along the way. Trim to Bective is 8.5 kilometres and will take 2 hours – 4 hours for a club trip to complete depending on how much playing about you do on the way down.
You can find the location of Trim Canoe Course and the Trim to Bective route below.
