Canoeing Ireland in conjunction with Sport Ireland and Healthy Ireland are launching the “Paddlesport Safety Culture in Ireland” Research report. Canoeing Ireland initiated this examination of safety on the water in Ireland and approached Dr. John Pierce, Munster Technological University (MTU), and Kevin O’Callaghan, Atlantic Technological University (ATU), regarding a research funding call from Sport Ireland’s Research and Innovation Unit. This report provides a summary of a research project exploring safety practices in Irish Paddlesports. It includes the aims, objectives, research methodology, findings, and recommendations.
Insights and learning from this report will help develop the existing safety culture across all Paddle sports in Ireland.
