Ireland will be moving to Level 5 restrictions for living with COVID-19 as of midnight on Wednesday 21st of October. While this means more stringent restrictions for living with the virus there are several updates to the government guidelines to allow for some sporting activities to continue. These restricts have only come into place due to the increased levels of risk to public health that this virus is once again presenting. While the level of paddling activity will be seriously reduced we hope our members will continue to prioritise their own, and others, safety when it comes to adherence to these restrictions. With consideration to the government restrictions Canoeing Ireland would advise that the vast majority of club activity ceases, with only activities which strictly adhere to the new restrictions take place.

The key guidelines for Level 5, including the new updates from the government are –

  • No group training. Individual training only within 5km from your home. With specific exemptions
  • Non-contact training can continue for school aged children, outdoors in pods of 15
  • No matches are events
  • The use of indoor facilities is not permitted
