After the launch and brilliant success of the Teen Connect Zoom series, aimed at connecting young women in paddlesports with their peers, the first on the water Teen connect sessions were held across the 15th and 16th of May. Following on from the online series, these on the water sessions were hugely successful. There were 9 events across 6 counties – Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford, Cork, Galway and Kildare. With over 100 teenage girls participating it was amazing to see so many females on the water across the country. A huge thank you is due to everyone who participated and in particular to all the clubs and volunteers who supported the initiative and shared their skills.

Across the events the girls had the opportunity to try canoe polo, slalom, Canadian canoes, freestyle kayaking, wildwater racing, stand up paddle boards and river boats, all the disciplines on offer in paddlesports. The atmosphere at the events was brilliant, with everyone making new friends, new connections and great memories.

Stay tuned for more teen connect events over the summer. If you want to get in touch feel free to email teenconnect@canoe.ie
