In an impressive return to strength for Canoeing Ireland there will be at least three boats on the start line for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Canoe Slalom. Athletes in the categories of Kayak Men, Kayak Women, and Canoe men will now be nominated by Canoeing Ireland to the Olympic Federation of Ireland for selection to represent our community and country on the biggest sporting stage in the world.

These nominations are the result of an extensive selection process, agreed upon by all athletes and coaches concerned. Our current athletes who will be proposed to the Olympic Federation of Ireland are –

Noel Hendrick: K1 Men
Madison Corcoran: K1 Women
Liam Jegou: C1 Men

Canoeing Ireland is eagerly looking forward to the beginning of the 2024 international season, where we will have the opportunity to add to our Olympic Team at the Kayak Cross Global Olympic Qualifier in June.

We would like to congratulate the entire team of athletes and support staff on their incredible work in qualifying three boats for the Paris Olympics, giving the entire sport something to be proud of.

The Canoeing Ireland Performance Director Jon Mackey spoke to the efforts of the entire team over the last three years in pursuing the elusive Olympic quota spots.

‘At this point in the nomination process for the Paris Olympic Games, I would like to acknowledge the commitment and sacrifices made by every member of the team as they chased the Olympic dream. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sport Ireland for their investment into our six week camp in Australia and to our friends in Paddle Australia for their warm hospitality.‘
